Cooking is literally LIFE. I've watched and learned from my parents (Derak and Anita) from birth to now. Seeing them crank up some music and get elbow deep into a dish really taught me to love cooking. I'm inspired by them to learn much more and look forward to more chances to cook along with the team!
I started cooking when I was 12, to help my mom. She worked 2 jobs and was always tired. She thought it was good so i kept doing it. I love watching everyone's faces when they are enjoying something that I have cooked. Lately, I have been sharing the kitchen with my husband. We spend a lot of meals cooking together, which I really enjoy.
Cooking for us is about the balance between health, taste, and of course financial savings. With our busy lifestyles, we often found ourselves constantly eating out. This not only began to burn a hole health wise throughout our bodies, but also our bank account. To top things off, it didn't really taste good! So our inspiration for cooking is trying to take a healthier approach to cooking, often circling around sales items, with great taste. We also focus on meal prep and quick meals to make on a work night.
Food is ART. Food is LOVE
I remember my first memories of my mom. Those memories were in the kitchen. I grew up developing skills by watching and learning....assimilation if you will. As I began to learn, I realized the importance of incorporating whole foods and vegan options into my diet. Some of my recipes reflect this. I am not formally trained, but being a creative, cooking is an outlet for me to create and a way for me to give love through sharing my creations.
